Marfa, Texas, USA

Things I haven’t done yet, but want to try…

1. Go to the Agave Festival

Typically in June. Agave Festival in Marfa celebrates the agave and its influence on culture through food, film, music, science, and spirits. Follow on Instagram.

2. Try the homemade gelato at Bordo

Flavors on their rotating menu such as Pistachio, Mulberry, Rose, Grapefruit Sorbetto, etc. have me drooling.

3. Big Bend Coffee Roasters

They have really good coffee. I haven’t had a chance to stop by their storefront in Marfa. I am not sure if they do tours or not?

4. Blackwell School National Historic Site

Saturdays & Sundays 1 – 4 pm. For 56 years, the Blackwell School educated Mexican and Mexican American children. Today, this site managed by the National Park Service is a symbol of segregation history.

5. Building 98 POW Murals at Fort D.A. Russell

Thursdays to Saturdays 2 – 5 pm. Online reviews often state that it is not open, but I’d like to try to visit. Historic fort building with murals painted by two German prisoners of war during WWII.

6. Attend service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

Services on Sundays at 9 am. 101 E Washington Street.

7. All day tour at the Chinati Foundation

Visit all available installations in Chinati’s collection. Typically starting at 9:30 am, guided tours walk over 2.5 miles and last 5 hours with a lunch break on your own.
